Background

We've successfully rehabilitated and returned to the wild a male Dermochelys coriacea (leatherback turtle) that was found trapped in fishing gear, on June 20th, 2019, at “Meia Praia”, in Lagos (southern Portugal).
The specimen was named QUINAS, and resumed its journey on August 7th, 2019, after underdoing 49 days of rehabilitation at Zoomarine’s "Porto d'Abrigo".
Similarly to Zoomarine "Operação Regresso Adiado" (Sept 2009, also at SeaTurtle.Org), this specimen was tagged with a KiwiSaT Argos + DIVE device.
