Background

Iglulimmiutaujuq (pronounced Igloo-leem-mee-oot-tauw-yook) means 'she is from Igloolik' in Inuktitut because she was tagged with a geolocator in 2016 at the same location near the community of Igloolik, Nunavut. We recovered the geolocator and replaced it with a satellite tracker in 2017. Inuktitut is one of the Inuit languages of Nunavut in northern Canada where Iglulimmiutaujuq's breeding grounds are located.
