Background

"Redfoot" is named for William (Bill) Redfoot, an integral member of the UCF Marine Turtle Research Group since 1982. He began his sea turtle career with Llew (Doc) Ehrhart in Melbourne Beach at what is now the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge. He earned his MS in Education from the University of South Florida in 1978 and began teaching, working with Doc and sea turtles during the summer months. In the 1990s, he chose to do a second MS degree in Biology, studying the population structure and foraging ecology of juvenile green turtles. Several years ago he chose to take early retirement so that he could spend even more time working with sea turtles, and most recently, he has chosen to spend less time on sea turtles so that he could spend more time with his lovely wife, Ann. This satellite tag was generously provided by the Sea Turtle Preservation Society of Melbourne Beach and the SeaWorld Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. Photo coming soon!
