Introduction
Waral Kawa (Deliverance Is) is an Indigenous Protected Area in western Torres Strait. This remote island is a important flatback turtle nesting site. Our research, funded by the Australian Government are the first studies on the island since the 1980s. The project is a collaboration between the Badu - Mura Badhulgau Rangers, Mabuiag - Mabuygiw Rangers, Boigu - Malua Kiai Rangers, the Torres Strait Regional Authority and James Cook University.
