Background

Argaman (in Hebrew), which translates to Scarlet in English, is an adult female loggerhead sea turtle. Preceding the attachment of the satellite transmitter, she nested in a beach with the same name in the city Netanya. Those who had the important task of gluing the tracking device to her carapace had to deal with a pretty massive and strong turtle.

Scarlet's nesting site becomes less and less attractive for nesting every year. The narrowing of the Israeli shoreline, caused by the sand's inability to migrate north due to marine structures, and the artificial light from city hotels turn this beach to less accommodating for nesting females. Fortunately, Scarlet did not give up and successfully nested in this beach. We cannot wait to see where she will choose to swim next.
