Background

'La Cristi' was captured by fishermen off La Gomera, Canary Islands,last August 15th. Its right forefilipper was injured and it also had a hook in its mouth. This turtle has been successfully rehabilitated by the veterinary staff from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Gran Canaria. It was released off North Gran Canaria together with several drifting bouys. When released,'La Cristi' was 25,7 kg in weight and 57 cm CCL, being so far the largest turtle that makes part of this study.
