Sadly, Elaia was found dead in a trammel net by a Tunisian fisherman. This highlights the threat that fisheries are to turtles internationally and that bycatch reduction and fisher education are vital components of sea turtle conservation.

Background

Last but not least we have Elaia; the final turtle to be tracked by ARCHELON in 2018. Elaia is a coastal village at the core nesting area of Kyparissia Bay. Elaia was also a goddess half-angel half-demon in Greek mythology, often accompanied by nymphs and elves (xotika).
