click map for full-size version Sol moved from the east, where he was caught, to the west for a long period and then made several trips accross the bay... maybe he was looking for a mate!? Sadly, after only about 70 days the transmitter ceased to produce locations for unknown reasons.

Background

This was the first turtle equipped with a Sirtrack Kiwisat 101 transmitter in 2003. There are many males found in Amvrakikos and this allows us to study them whereas many projects only have access to females at the nesting beaches.
