Background

"Sabina" is a juvenile black turtle that we captured approximately 20 miles offshore Bahia Magdalena in the Pacific. She was release 6 August 1999. The turtle was basking in a mat of algae (Macrocystis) when caught and represents the first pelagic juvenile black turtle tracked by our research group. "Sabina" is named after our good friend who has worked for many years at the Center for Coastal Studies in Puerto San Carlos, BCS.

See issue No. 93 of the Marine Turtle Newsletter for an article about juvenile green turtles basking off of the Baja California coast: https://seaturtle.org/mtn/archives/mtn93/mtn93p10.shtml
