Background

Nanuk è una giovane tartaruga comune (CCL 56 cm) che era stata trovata impigliata in una rete da posta davanti al porto di Livorno a febbraio 2020. Presentava una ferita da costrizione alla natatoia davanti a sinistra che è stata curata presso il centro di recupero dell'Acquario di Livorno. E' stata liberata dopo 156 giorni di riabilitazione vicino al luogo di cattura, presso l'area marina protetta delle Secche della Meloria, dopo essere stata equipaggiata con una trasmittente satellitare nell'ambito delle attività previste dal progetto di ricerca NAT.NE.T. finanziato dalla Regione Toscana.

Nanuk is a juvenile loggerhead turtle (CCL 56 cm) which had been found entangled in a gill net in front of Livorno harbour in February 2020. She had a wound on the front left flipper which has been treated at the Turtle Rescue Center of the Livorno Aquarium. She has then been released after 156 days of rehabilitation near the capture site, after having been equipped with a satellite transmitter as a part of the activities of the NATNET project funded by Regione Toscana.
