Satellite TrackingAviv - Israel's sea turtle monitoring program A project of Israel Nature and Parks Authrity. Static Map | Zoom Map | Animated Map (KB) Aviv (Loggerhead) is 3 km S off the coast of Egypt and 124 km from Gaza Background Aviv is an adult female Loggerhead, who arrived at the Israel Sea Turtle Rescue Center on January 2015 after she was found stranded on the beach during a winter storm. At the rescue center, Aviv was treated with warm fluids, as she suffered from hypothermia following long exposure to the cold wind. A CT scan revealed Aviv was suffering from blast injuries â inner tissue trauma to the lungs and inner ear. She was given antibiotics to treat and prevent pneumonia, but still seemed very weak, and refused to eat for almost 6 months. Finally Aviv started showing signs of recuperating, started eating and swimming more frequently. She was held for another 3 months so she could get stronger and gain weight. On Saturday, September 5th 2015, Aviv was released back to sea with a satellite transmitter. You are most welcome to follow Aviv on the tracking website!
