Nayarit es el límite norte de anidación para las tortugas Carey del Pacifico Oriental y tortugas en todas sus etapas de vida pueden ser encontradas en el Estado. Nayar es la segunda tortuga marina de Nayarit en llevar un rastreador satelital. Esperamos que su regreso al mar, genere interés en la comunidad local e importante información sobre las Carey juveniles en el Estado.

Nayar tiene una longitud curvo de caparazón (LCC) de 53.5 cm y ancho curvo de caparazón (ACC) de 45.2, largo recto de caparazón (LRC) de 49.9 cm, ancho recto de caparazón (ARC) de 37.9 cm y pesa 14 kg el día de su liberación.

LIBERACION

Nayar fue liberada el 15 de septiembre, 2013 a las 6 p.m. tiempo local en el día festivo de la Independencia de México. Al evento asistieron habitantes de la comunidad así como visitantes frente al Hotel La Tranquila, Litibu. Después de un inicio lento y un poco dificil, Nayar regreso al océano seguida por 63 crías de tortuga golfina.

Nayarit marks the northern nesting limit for East Pacific hawksbills and turtles from all life stages can be found in the state.

Nayar is the second sea turtle from Nayarit to receive a satellite tag. It is hoped that her release will raise awareness and provide important information on juvenile hawksbills in the state.

Nayar has a curved carapace length (CCL) of 53.5cm and width (CCW) of 45.2 cm and a straight carapace length (SCL) of 49.9cm, straight carapace width (SCW) of 37.9cm and weighs 14kg on the day of her release.

RELEASE

Nayar was release on the 15th September 2013 at 18:00 local time on the Mexican Independence Day public holiday. The release was attended by both local community and visitors in front of the Hotel La Tranquila, Litibu. After a slow and somewhat bumpy start Nayar returned to the ocean followed by 63 olive ridley turtle hatchlings.
