Satellite TrackingShemesh - Israel's sea turtle monitoring program A project of Israel Nature and Parks Authrity. Static Map | Shemesh (Loggerhead) is 5 km W off the coast of Israel and 20 km from Tel Aviv
Background Shemesh is an adult female Loggerhead who arrived at the rescue center on Sep 19th 2015 after it was caught on a static long-line fishing hook. At the rescue center we extracted two hooks from Shemesh's mouth, took blood tests and gave her an X-ray, just to be sure there were no internal injuries, or more hooks. All tests showed that Shemesh was healthy and she remained at the rescue center for observation. Shemesh was released on Oct 30th 2015, with a satellite transmitter, donated by the Israel electrical company.
