Beach Description


Hobcaw beach is part of South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts (SCUTE) a group of volunteers who monitor approximately 78 km of beach in northern Georgetown and Horry Counties. This area includes the following separately patrolled areas.
Hobcaw Beach is part of Hobcaw Barony, owned by the Belle W. Baruch Foundation, and is within the boundaries of the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The beach ranges from erosional areas with dead myrtles and no dunes to low dunes at the south end.
