Beach Description

Coffin Point is located on St. Helena Sound in the north east end of St. Helena Island. There are approximately 4km of beach fronting the sound starting from Coffin Creek at the north end and continuing to the Harbor Island inlet on the south end. The narrow beach is a mix of heavy to moderate shells with intermittent sections of Spartina and small dunes on the southerly end. The beach is bordered with single family homes. Despite less than ideal terrain, loggerhead turtle nests have been laid in all areas of the beach.
