Background

Pingatsiq (pronounced pee-gnat-sick) means 'Wednesday' in Inuktitut because it was the day of the week she was tagged. Inuktitut is one of the Inuit languages of Nunavut in northern Canada where Pingatsiq's breeding grounds are located.
