Satellite TrackingSifa - Renaissance Whale and Dolphin Project 2015 Arabian Sea Humpback Whale Satellite Tagging A project of Environment Society of Oman. Static Map | Sifa
Background Sifa was the last Arabian Sea humpback whale tagged on November 2015 survey. Another new animal to the 'Oman Humpback Photo-Catalogue'. As yet it is unknown if the animal is male or female. The name 'Sifa' was taken from a reef area named "Sif Bu Sifa' close to where the animal was found in the centre of the Gulf of Masirah. The reef area is apparently highly productive and a magnet for artisanal fisheries, turtles and whales and dolphins that have been sighted in the area.
SEATURTLE.ORG collaborates with Argos to help scientists and conservationists manage and analyse their valuable animal tracking data. ![]() |
