Gina - Oman 2008: Green Turtles of Masirah

Gina's moved south away from the nesting beach. She's now in Yemen, a country favoured by many loggerhead that nest at Masirah. Gina took a far more coastal route than the loggerheads though, seemingly preferring the shallower waters.
It looks like Gina has used a coastal path as a route to get to the warmer waters of the Gulf of Aden. Gina's gone into the Red Sea; something not shown for any species of turtle nesting on Masirah. The other green tagged in 2008 has finally arrived in the Red Sea but has chosen a different location to Gina!

Background

Gina was found on a dark night in Ras Radum. She was one of the few green turtles emerging on Masirah beaches this season - a low one for green turtles on the island. She was tagged and released in the early morning hours with the assistance of the rangers of Masirah.
