Background

“Mahon" is a juvenile (38.7cm SCLmin, 6.9 kg) green sea turtle that stranded at Vilano Beach, FL on 10 March 2021. The turtle was debilitated and triaged at the Whitney Lab Sea Turtle Hospital for 24 hours and then sent to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, Jekyll Island, GA for further care. While at the GSTC, "Mahon" exhibited signs of neurological issues and experienced acute onset anemia. Following seven months of excellent attentive care, "Mahon" was released off Jekyll Island 10 October 2021. We're excited to get a better handle on the seasonal foraging grounds of this very fortunate sea turtle!
