Background

Qakuqtuq (pronounced Ka-cook-took) means 'white' in Inuktitut for the white flag that she (and all Canadian flagged birds) is wearing. Inuktitut is one of the Inuit languages of Nunavut in northern Canada where Qakuqtuq's breeding grounds are located.
