Founded in October 2002, East Coast Biologists, Inc. (ECB), is a not-for-profit organization that conducts and supports scientific research and education. Employees of ECB are researchers and biologists whose focus is on scientific research of marine communities. The majority of its members are graduate biologists and professionals with experience or expertise in marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Collectively, this group has over 75 years of academic and professional scientific experience. Areas of support and research include nesting and in-water marine turtle research, herpetological research/monitoring, small mammal population studies, marine fish and invertebrate research, seagrass and macroalgal research and monitoring, and beach restoration. The majority of funding is from scientific research grants, and local and state government contracts. The mission of ECB is to support environmental research, monitoring, and education on a local and global scale for the benefit of preserving and maintaining natural resources for present and future generations.
