Take

When a species is accorded federal protection (e.g. listed under the USA Endangered Species Act), the listed species is protected from "take." Take is defined as any activity that might result in the following actions that impact the protected species: harass, harm, pursue, hunt, shoot, wound, kill, trap, capture, or collect.
