Marine Turtle Specialist Group

Variations: MTSG

An international group of marine turtle experts that was established by the Species Survival Commission of the World Conservation Union (IUCN). The primary role of the MTSG is to provide up-to-date and reliable assessments of the ranking of marine turtle species according the IUCN Red List categories. Current co-chairs of the MTSG are Nicolas Pilcher and Rod Mast. Past chairs include: Archie Carr, Nicholas Mrosovsky, George Balazs, Karen Bjorndal, Neca Marcovaldi and Alberto Abreu.
