Background
Chestnut is a 3 year old loggerhead that is part of the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Sea turtle Awareness Program. The turtle was rescued from an excavated nest in Pine Knoll Shores in 2006. He was last on exhibit in the Queen Anne's Revenge Exhibit. With the help of Discovery Diving Co. the turtle was released off shore in Gulf Stream waters. The picture demonstrates this release off the Outrageous V. The release was a success with many people watching. While Chestnut was at the Aquarium he ate really well and captured an occasional fish. The turtle's color and hefty appetite gave him the name. Joey Chestnut is a world famous eating champion.
