"Whitley" (YYS938) is a juvenile/subadult green sea turtle captured 7 November 2009 during STFERL entanglement netting operations in the Lower Laguna Madre near Port Mansfield, Texas. This turtle was outfitted and released with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 satellite transmitter on 7 November 2009 and released near it's capture location. Satellite tracking of this animal and other green turtles is part of a study examining green turtle assemblages in the lower Laguna Madre funded via a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department KAST Restitution Funds.
YYS938 has been nicknamed "Whitley" in reference to J.D. and Mary Ann Whitley, of Port Mansfield, Texas, who provided work space to process this turtle and attach the satellite transmitter as well as lodging STFERL personnel. This is the second green turtle to be satellite tracked by the STFERL in the Port Mansfield area. Other TAMUG STFERL tracks are available on the "TAMUG Kemp's Ridley Nesters 2007-2008", "TAMUG Kemp's Ridley Tracking 2007", "TAMUG Kemp's Ridley Tracking 2004-2006", and "TAMUG Loggerhead Tracking" pages.
