After hanging out, feeding and foraging, in one general location just off the coast of Jacksonville, FL it looks like Aussie has decided to go south for the winter! It's not surprising since the inshore ocean temperatures were severely affected from that 10 day+ cold snap we experienced recently and she definitely felt the chill!

Background
Aussie arrived at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC) on February 27, 2009. She stranded on a beach in Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine, Florida. Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) transported to the GSTC for care. Aussie was lethargic, had a moderate load of epibiota with polychaete worms on her carapace, and a severe intestinal infection with parasites. Aussie was given an array of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-parasitics to combat these problems. Good nutrition and a safe, temporary place to stay at the GSTC has enable her to gain weight and strength and was deemed suitable for release. He/she was successfully released on May 29, 2009 from Jekyll Island, GA with a few of her hospital friends: Betty (loggerhead), Shrimp (Kemps ridley) and Route (Kemps Ridley from the New England Aquarium).
