Background

TTX906 ("Ralphie") is a juvenile green sea turtle that was outfitted with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 satellite transmitter and released on 16 May 2007. "Ralphie" was captured during STFERL entanglement netting operations in the Lower Laguna Madre off the southern portion of South Padre Island, Texas, as part of a 2-year study funded by the Texas Sea Grant Program to examine occurrence and distribution of sea turtles in Texas bays. This turtle was named in honor of Ralph Rayburn, Associate Director of the Texas Sea Grant Program and ardent facilitator of marine research and education.
