Background

“Smarty,” a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, stranded on November 11, 2005 in Eastham, MA, USA and was transported to the New England Aquarium (NEAq) the same day. A complete health exam revealed that Smarty was suffering from hypothermia, dehydration, malnourishment, and skin cracking. Smarty received critical care treatment at NEAq until transport to the National Marine Life Center (NMLC) on December 5, 2006. Smarty was treated at NMLC for eight months until release on August 24, 2006.


SEATURTLE.ORG collaborates with Argos to help scientists and conservationists manage and analyse their valuable animal tracking data.
