Background

RRC663 ("Heddy") is a juvenile green sea turtle that was outfitted and released with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 transmitter on 24 July 2006. This turtle was found in the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI) boat basin in Port Aransas, Texas on June 5, 2006 with deep gashes to the left side of the head and the underside of the left flipper proximal to the body (armpit region). These wounds were most likely caused by a boat propeller. RRC663 was rehabilitated by the Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) program at UTMSI, and s/he was outfitted with a satellite transmitter by the TAMUG STFERL prior to release near the north end of Mustang Island in Redfish Bay.

RRC663 was nicknamed "Heddy" during his/her rehabiliation at ARK. Special thanks to Tony Amos and ARK for their collaboration in providing this turtle for tracking.
