Cat - Chelonia mydas

Background

Seized by the Portuguese authorities at an airport's customs on August 27th 2001. Arrived in good clinical condition, weighting 4,8 kg (10.58 lb). Complications resulting from the presence of an abscess led to the amputation of the left fore flipper (March 2006). It has been in rehabilitation, gaining weight ever since. Last weight before release - 60,5 kg (133.4 lb).

• Sea surface temperature is derived from NASA's MODIS 8-Day Sea Surface Temperature data.
