Shellyback is a hawksbill captured on 15 June 2017 in the waters of San Jose island, Gulf of California, Mexico. This turtle has been monitored since 2014 when it was first caught by members of the research project lead by Lourdes Martinez Estevez and Don Croll from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Shellyback measured 60 cm (LCC). This effort would not have been possible without the hard work by Felipe and Juan Cuevas, and the support of WWF-Mexico Marine Priority Species Program, Jeff Seminoff from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), The Rufford Small Grants Foundation, and Grupo Tortuguero de las Californias A.C.

SEATURTLE.ORG collaborates with Argos to help scientists and conservationists manage and analyse their valuable animal tracking data.
