I am happy to see that Frank is on the move and has exited Buzzard's Bay. Now that he has exited the Bay I expect he will begin moving south. There is also a chance this turtle could head east to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream as some turtles do however we have no idea what causes some to hug the coast and other to head to the Gulf Stream. There are still a lot of mysteries in sea turtle biology, Frank is helping us solve some of those. Thank you for your interest and support of endangered sea turtles. - Connie (10/26/13)

This endangered Kemp's ridley sea turtle named Frank Hardy, after a young detective in the Hardy Boys series, was released on 8.14.13 from Martha's Vineyard. Frank arrived at the New England Aquarium in a state of hypothermia and suffering from possible kidney failure. With careful administration of replacement fluids, medications and a slow warming process, Frank began to show signs of improvement. Due to the severe illness in this turtle, he/she showed no interest in food for over a month. As a result our staff had to provide nutrition by tube feeding this turtle. As Frank's medical condition improved he finally began to eat on his own and is now quite good at it!
