Background

"Fuerte" is a 97.2 cm SCLmin adult male loggerhead (tail length = 51.4 cm, 53% of SCLmin) captured off Edisto Island, SC during a 30-minute research trawl. His name means "strong" in Spanish, a fitting name for this massive creature. The name is also symbolic for the Charleston Strong movement in response to a horrific massacre at the AME church a week before "Fuerte" was captured.
