Alan is an 81.0cm SCLmin (73.4 kg) male loggerhead sea turtle that was captured by research trawling off Mayport Poles. His plastron edge to tip of tail length (38.0cm, 47% of SCLmin), with a cloaca that extended past the carapace edge, suggests that Alan is a mature animal. However, Alan is considerably smaller than breeding male loggerhead sea turtles tracked in 2006 and 2007 following capture from a breeding aggregation in central Florida. As such, as a potential new recruit to the breeding population, Alan promises to be a very interesting male loggerhead sea turtle to study.
