Mickey is an 81.6cm SCLmin (82 kg) male loggerhead sea turtle that was captured by research trawling near a high density loggerhead sea turtle nesting beach. His plastron edge to tip of tail length (40.0 cm, 49% of SCLmin), with a cloaca that extended past the carapace edge, suggests that Mickey is a mature animal. However, Mickey is considerably smaller than breeding male loggerhead sea turtles tracked in 2006 and 2007 following capture from a breeding aggregation in central Florida. As such, as a potential new recruit to the breeding population, Mickey promises to be a very interesting male loggerhead sea turtle to study.
