Hi all, This green turtle was released on Friday August 12 from a lobster boat. Fisherman Mark Leach was kind enough to donate the use of his boat, fuel and his time to take us out to release this turtle and nine others into Nantucket Sound off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It will be very interesting to compare the track from this turtle and the other tagged turtle, Ophelia, to tracks from our previously tagged turtles. - As always... thanks for your interest in sea turtles! - Connie.

“Cassiopeia” was one of five green sea turtles that stranded alive during the 2010 New England cold-stun season. This was the second largest stranding event for sea turtles in our region. The turtle was saved from Sagamore beach in Bourne, MA and brought to the New England Aquarium’s Animal Care Center on November 16th. This turtle’s initial presentation included an algal covered carapace, nicks and scratches to the plastron, and a reduced body temperature. “Cassiopeia” responded very well to the therapy and was eating and swimming in the pool overnight within three days of entering rehab. This turtle has grown almost 14cm and gained over ten pounds. Good luck out there!
