UUS501 "Bob" is a juvenile Kemp's ridley (45.2 cm SCL) that was outfitted with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 transmitter and released on 5 August 2015. This ridley was captured during TAMUG entanglement netting operations in Galveston Bay near the Texas City Dike (Texas City, Texas). Research to examine the habitat use patterns of juvenile Kemp’s ridleys from Galveston Bay was made possible by funding from the Moody Gardens Aquarium.
UUS501 was nicknamed "Bob" by TAMUG personnel, in honor of Robert St. Clair, the late father of one of the crew members, because this turtle was captured on what would have been his 68th birthday.
