Introduction

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is the first of it's kind in Georgia. The mission of this facility is to incorporate and convey aspects of Rehabilitation, Research and Education of sea turtles to the public. Satellite tracking enables us to conduct long term monitoring of behavior and movements of patients rehabilitated at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island to determine treatment success. We have partnered with Georgia Aquarium to expand out capabilities by including turtles they have had in captivity.

Project Partners

The Georgia Aquarium is the world's largest with more than eight million gallons of water and the largest collection of aquatic animals. The mission of the Georgia Aquarium is to be an entertaining, educational and scientific institution featuring exhibits and programs of the highest standards, offering engaging and exciting guest experiences and promoting the conservation of aquatic biodiversity throughout the world. The Georgia Aquarium's 4R Program (rehabilitation, responsibility, rescue and research) is designed to positively impact the health and well-being of aquatic life from around the world. Sea turtles are one

of the many animals that the Aquarium's 4R Program focuses on, and the Aquarium will continue its efforts with sea turtles in the hopes of releasing more animals in the future.
