Introduction
Global change will affect Arctic ecosystems faster and more heavily than in any other region on Earth. The Ivory gull is definitely one of the most endangered Arctic seabirds, facing a serious risk of total extinction due to climate change. Already breeding on the highest mountains and on the northernmost Arctic lands, it might not be able to relocate its colonies northward or at higher altitude. Furthermore, for most of its annual cycle, it exclusively feeds in the pack-ice zone which is forecasted to disappear almost completely in summer during this century.
In order to improve our knowledge on habitat use, migration routes, wintering quarters, site fidelity, etc, 13 adult individuals were tagged in July 2007 in North Greenland, 5 in 2008 and 6 in 2009 (including 2 young).
Only the 6 birds tagged in 2009 and 2 birds from 2007 that were still working in summer 2009 are presented here.
