Background

Juvenile loggerhead (64.2cm SCLmin) exhibiting signs of "debilitated sea turtle syndrome" or "DBS" taht was found stranded on Jekyll Island in Georgia in summer 2006. Following initial treatment at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, this turtle was transferred to a rehabilitation facility at Sea World. "Golden Boy" was returned to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center approximately one year later. Satellite-tagging of this turtle represents a collaborative effort between the SCDNR and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
