TURTALA is an adult female loggerhead sea turtle weighing 70kg who was brought into the DTRP in early 2017 with a severe injury to her carapace caused by a boat collision.

The DTRP team worked hard for almost a year to repair her carapace and to bring her back to full health.

In the summer, TURTALA spent some time at the Dubai Underwater Aquarium and Zoo to raise awareness of the plight of sea turtles and the threats they face in the wild, such as boat strikes.

TURTALA was fitted with a Wildlife Computers satellite-linked tag that was kindly sponsored by the great team at DAUZ so that we can track her integration back into the wild and make sure our rehabilitation protocols were successful.

SEATURTLE.ORG collaborates with Argos to help scientists and conservationists manage and analyse their valuable animal tracking data.
