Background

Luban is the arabic name for the Frankincense tree. She was encountered in the Gulf of Masirah close to the town of Sarab and named for a tree shaped pattern at the base of her tail fluke. Luban is a known female from previous genetic studies Luban and was first observed in the same area back in 2002 and subsequently in November 2014 and 2015.
