Background

Shelly is a juvenile hawksbill turtle and was brought to the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP) in the winter of 2016 suffering from cold stunning and severe debilitation.

He was nursed back to health by the DTRP team and for his final stages of rehabilitation, she was homed in an exhibit at the Dubai Mall Aquarium for 30 days with four other turtles to raise awareness of the regional plight of the sea turtle.

Shelly's satellite tag was purchased by the team at Dubai Mall Aquarium in collaboration with the DTRP’s satellite tagging research initiative.
