Background

A huge thank you to Farnek for sponsoring their namesake turtle. This support is invaluable in helping us learn all we can about turtle behaviour and habitat use. These data will help us conserve sea turtles much more effectively, and we are extremely grateful to Farnek for their support - and so is Farnek the turtle!!!

Farnek was caught using a large beach seine net off the coast of Ras al Khaimah, in collaboration with the Environment Protection and Development Authority - Rak AEi. After a quick laparoscopic inspection Farnek was found to be an adult female in reproductive condition, and we hope she will migrate to lay eggs later in 2017. She carries flipper tags 0422 on the right side and 0424 on the left, and measures 85.3 cm in carapace length.
