Background

This turtle was caught using 'rodeo' style capture methods off Bu Tinah Island, Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi. Capture involved a chase at sea using a boat and jet ski, until finallly someone jumped and caught the turtle by hand. After a quick laparoscopic inspection the turtle was found to be an adult female in reproductive condition, and we hope she will migrate to lay eggs later in 2017. She carries flipper tags 0658 on the right side and 0657 on the left, and measures 93.4 cm in carapace length.
