Kim Jenna was first tagged K35684 on 16th December 2001 during the 2001-2 census when she nested 14.96km South of Sandy Cape.
This time we found her nesting 13.6 km West of Sandy Cape on the night of 21st November 2017.
Left Front Flipper - K35684 (2001-12-16)
Right Front flipper - QA52112 added
Carapace - s165007 Sirtrack F4G fastloc GPS tracker added
Carapace - the letter "W" added
She measured CCL 95.5cm this time and was 93.7cm in 2001
She nested again on 6th December at 13.1km West of Sandy Cape,
and tied again on 17th and 18th December at 13.4km West of Sandy Cape, and succeeded on the 19th December at 13.9km West of Sandy Cape.
During her inter-nesting periods she has remained within 5 km along the coast of her cluster of 3 nesting sites, going no more than 1.2 km offshore, and often frequented a small area 1.1 km directly offshore of them.
Her naming acknowledges the support of QPWS and the K'gari (Fraser Island) Park Rangers who provided accommodation, and vehicles & staff to co-patrol with the Turtle Volunteers for four of our six nights to capture the 8 nesting greens and the more elusive 3 nesting loggerheads for this year's project.
