Background

Abel is an adult male Kemp's ridley sea turtle that was unintentionally caught by fishermen two miles south of Bob Hall Pier on North Padre Island, Texas on 10 October 2016. He swallowed a large hook and was taken to the Texas Sealife Center, for surgery to remove the hook and for recovery. He was outfitted with a Kiwisat 202 PTT and released at Padre Island National Seashore on 27 October 2016.
