Chatham (Whimbrel) is on the coast of British Virgin Islands and 194 km from San Juan

Chatham was captured, tagged, and released on Mill Creek Marsh in Chatham Massachusetts in early September of 2015. This is the first southbound Whimbrel that we have tagged to begin to understand the resource needs and movements of young birds during their first migration south. Unlike the adult Whimbrels tagged by this project, Chatham did not migrate north in the spring, but over-summered in her wintering sites in the wetlands of Anegada and Prickly Pear Islands within the archipelago of the British Virgin Islands. This tagging effort was sponsored by the Paddy V. Wade fellowship at Manomet inc.
