Introduction
Bonaire - part of the Netherlands Antilles - has a small but stable population of sea turtles that visit our island to breed. To find out where these animals live outside of the breeding season, we are placing transmitters onto adult turtles at Klein Bonaire to track them as they swim back to their feeding grounds. From this we hope to learn the geographic range of "our" turtles and highlight the need for regional cooperation in taking measures to protect these magnificent animals.
Project Sponsors
UNESCO is sponsoring Bonaire's turtle tracking for 2009
