Introduction
This tracking study is part of a larger project to investigate the nesting ecology of hawksbill turtles at Groote Eylandt, Gulf of Carpentaria, northern Australia. Groote Island and its associated islands support significant sea turtle nesting by 4 species of sea turtle including hawksbill turtles.
Groote Eylandt is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory Australia. The m ain island and its assocaited smaller islands are Aboriginal Land.
This is a joint project between the Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC) and the Dept. of Natural Resources Environment and the Arts and will also form part of a PhD project for Xavier Hoenner.
